Natural Hair Goddesses

Embrace Your Race

Hi everyone,

Are you a woman of African descent who is interested in learning how to maintain your natural hair? Are you thinking about transitioning from chemical-treated to natural hair, in the process of transitioning or have you had natural hair all along? Well this blog entry is just the beginning to learning the secrets to having healthy, manageable, beautiful 'black' hair.

I, too, am in the process of transitioning having recently done the “big chop”. For those who don’t know what that means, continue following my blog and you will find out.  I will be making regular posts regarding the different steps to take while transitioning, important hair care regimens and tips, as well as essential tools and products that will help you maintain natural hair.

I have found that many women of African descent really do not know how to take care of their own natural hair. Many of them do not find it beautiful and this is as a result of societal perceptions. We drink in everything the media dictates and sadly, this includes what they determine to be beautiful. We aspire to fit that mold, even if it means changing everything about ourselves.

Well, it is my intention to make a stand and declare for all of my African sisters out there, that BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL. There is no need to try to change yourself to what television or magazines say is beautiful. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL and we must show them how beautiful we, as a race, can be. So as I make this journey of re-discovery for myself, I invite you to join with me and be one of the Natural Hair Goddesses in your community.
